Am I required to study abroad during my junior year?
Yes, study abroad in India is an essential and integrated part of the Flagship program. The exact duration of the program (full academic year vs. a summer and a semester) will depend on each student's major requirements.
What does the year in India involve? Do students attend Indian university courses?
The Flagship is in the process of finalizing its study abroad component. HUF is partnering with Indian universities, businesses, and existing study- abroad Hindi-Urdu language programs to create a unique experience that will combine university study with professional internships relevant to students' chosen field. Details will be announced in spring 2008.

For its study abroad component, the Flagship has partnered with the American Institute of Indian Studies, an organization with many years of experience in helping American students to study and live in India (including many who have not been to the subcontinent before). AIIS has developed a sophisticated support system dealing with all aspects of the encounter. All students are fully briefed on issues of health, security, cultural sensibilities and "fitting in". The Flagship staff in UT will also keep in close contact by email with all students throughout their Year in India, and personal advice will be available at all times.
